
The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team celebrated its 500th win in 2018. This victory was the culmination a season of undefeated play for the team. The team has been playing since 1983 and is considered one of the top in the world.

The U.S. Women's Soccer Team's late equalizer was one the most memorable moments at the tournament. While it wasn't the game-winning goal, Abby Wambach's header was pinpoint and clutch. This goal will remain a highlight in the history US women's soccer.

Morgan's star player future
Alex Morgan is an American women's soccer player. This season, she scored 15 goals in 16 NWSL league games. This summer she will lead the U.S. delegation to Mexico's Concacaf tournament. The US had not participated in this tournament since 2010 in Cancun. Morgan was able to help the Americans win the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup gold medal. Although they lost to Mexico in semifinals, Morgan played a significant role in their victory. She also scored the winning goal in the London Olympics against Canada.
Rapinoe's lawsuit against U.S. soccer federation
Five members of USWNT filed a lawsuit in April 2016 against the U.S. soccer association seeking equal pay for their work. They claimed they had been unfairly treated due to their gender. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission received the complaint. In May 2020, a federal judge sided with the federation, dismissing most of the players' unequal pay claims. On appeal, the women filed an opening brief in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Dunn's Olympic debut
Dunn's inclusion as a U.S. woman's soccer player was widely expected and celebrated in Rockville Centre Maryland, where she resides. It was a symbolic end to her World Cup absence and the beginning of a new chapter of her soccer career.
Rapinoe's Third Olympics
Megan Rapinoe plays forward for the United States National Team. In 2009, Megan Rapinoe was back with the team and participated in their first World Cup. Rapinoe was able to send the ball back to Abby Wambach just before the game was finished in 2011. She was part the Olympic team, and contributed to their gold medal win in London 2012.

Team USA's Tokyo performance
Team USA's performance during the Summer Games has been positive. The Tokyo Olympic basketball team won gold. The women’s volleyball team won their first Olympic gold. In addition, the 4x400 meter relay women’s team brought home their first gold. Allyson Franklin's career total of 11 medals was increased to 11. The U.S. women’s indoor track and field team won the first gold in indoor volleyball.
