A recent Seton Hall Sports Poll sponsored and conducted by the Sharkey Institute/The Stillman School of Business found that 91% of women believe men should pay equal amount for playing soccer. However, only 74% of men agree. Similar to the men, 79% of women believe equal pay should become the norm in professional sports. Only 59% agree. While this is definitely a step in the right direction, it still needs to be a reality.

Sandra Bullock was among the female sports stars who called for equal pay. They aren't the only women who play sports; many men also are underpaid. The US Women's National Team won the Best Team Award at the 2018 Women's World Cup. Bullock presented Bullock with the award. It will take a while before the United States women’s national soccer team earns as much as its male counterparts. Although equal pay for women's football is a key goal in the United States, and other countries, there are steps you can take to achieve it. Cherita Ellens is the CEO of Women Employed. According to Ellens, women earn 80 cents on every dollar that a man makes. Ellens says this is still a significant gap but is optimistic that women's teams will eventually attain equal pay for equal work. She hopes the players will help this effort to make it a reality.
Equal pay is subjective. If the men's team won 2015's World Cup, then the women's team should also have won it. The men's team deserves to be rewarded equally, but that doesn't mean women's teams should not be recognized. Women's team players have been competing for more games than the men's team. They have had a harder time keeping up. The World Cups prizes are no exception. But not all players get called up for every camp. What factors into who plays where? Injury, coaching decisions, and how many games each side plays are all important.
U.S. Soccer
Equal pay for men and women in soccer has reached a historic agreement between the USSF and soccer unions. Both teams will receive equal share of World Cup prize money and pay. The agreement states that men and woman will be paid equally at non World Cup tournaments. Both men and women can earn the same amount abroad and at home, provided they play the exact same number of games.
Cone, an ex-member of the women’s national team, declared in September that it was against his will to sign a contract with any other team that does not offer equal prize cash. Cone signed a contract on Tuesday. The women's union supported the deal. The negotiations were being monitored by lawyers from the men's association. The women's player association congratulated their victory against gender discrimination. The leaders of women's soccer's players' unions stated they would continue to hold U.S. Soccer for its decision.

The prize money in soccer has the largest pay gap. Men's teams compete for nearly $440 million in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, while women compete for just $30 million. Five top female soccer players have filed a lawsuit calling for equal pay. They claim that their wages are fourfold lower than those of their male counterparts. Equal pay for female soccer players is long overdue. But why is it still a problem?
There are many reasons why women and men have different salaries. Historically, women have had to compete against men to make ends meet. The difference in pay has been significant. USSF has not always been transparent about their salaries. Women on its team are no exception. This explains why their recent public relations campaign. A USSF spokeswoman told Reuters the organization holds a "strong commitment” to equal pay.
