Many people criticize NFL players for kneeling while they sing the national anthem. Some feel that it is disrespectful to the American flag. Some say it is disrespectful of the American flag. Others claim that it shows patriotism. No matter what your stance is on kneeling it's wrong.
Proponents say that it is necessary to highlight police violence against people of color. While there are flaws to the movement, it is one of the most effective ways to express defiance against the government's ignorance. It draws attention to the issue, puts pressure on the US government, and helps build community solidarity.
Canadian soccer players meet federation following protest
Canadian soccer players called for the Canadian Federation to investigate recent allegations of sexual abuse within its ranks. The team, which will play the Football Ferns of New Zealand in Ottawa, said they were "deeply disturbed" about the reports and wrote a letter to the top officials of the federation.

Canada Soccer cancelled a friendly against Iran in June. They also agreed to cancel an internationally contested match with Panama. Players claim that the Panama match was cancelled due to a contract dispute. Canada Soccer's decision to cancel the match was not made clear to the players. Players are still waiting for Canada Soccer's decision to resolve their issues and resume training.
UEFA sanctions Legia Warsaw's players for wearing yarmulkas
UEFA has instituted stricter sanctions against teams that abuse its rules on racial disparity. The new rules went into effect 1 June. Legia Warsaw is scheduled to play FC Steaua Bucuresti in UEFA Champions League playoffs on the same day. After antisemitic chants from their supporters, the Polish side has been banned for racism.
The Yarmulka, a traditional head-scarf worn by Muslim men, is known as the Yarmulka. It is usually embroidered with the flag of the national team. This head covering is used to indicate the national team of the football player as per FIFA rules. A player may have more than 1 non-FIFA country.
Brazil protests World Cup
Protests against the World Cup in Brazil are currently underway. In several cities, thousands of protestors took to the streets. The protests are focused on the high cost of stadiums, corruption, police brutality, and evictions. Protesters are calling on the government to spend the money instead on social projects and infrastructure.
Protesters claim that money raised from the World Cup should be used for basic public services. They also demand better education, and better medical services.

Protests by women from the United States during the Tokyo Olympics
The U.S. women’s soccer team knelt before the Olympic opening game in July. They were participating in a planned demonstration against racism, discrimination. Despite losing the game, some social media users ridiculed the team's decision to kneel.
Many people were surprised by the timing of the Eugene anthem, which coincided with the track & field podium ceremony. The protest did not cause a commotion about the right of free speech at the Olympic Games.
