
The world of sports media is full of women who have to balance their work and social lives. But, there are some who have broken the glass ceiling. Linda Cohn, an ESPN trailblazer, has paved the way. Cohn, who was first hired by ESPN in 1992 has become one of the network’s most versatile personalities.
Danica Patrick
Danica Patrick, an NASCAR racer, has won multiple championships. She has won multiple championships and was named the sport's most popular driver several times. Outside of her racing career, Danica is a fitness enthusiast and philanthropist. Danica's sexy personality, fit body and devoted fan base have made her a favorite.
Although Patrick began her career as a kart driver, she quickly advanced to the sport of racing. In 2005, she became the youngest winner of the Indianapolis 500. She is also currently the only female driver to win IndyCar Series. She continues to set female sports records.
Lindsey Vonn
Lindsey Vonn has a long history as a skier and an athlete of international standing. She is the most decorated woman in the history and evolution of downhill skiing. She has won many world titles, including the downhill world championships, three world championships in a row, and the overall world cup championship. She is also an example for women in sport.
Lindsey Vonn was a Minnesota native who began skiing at a young age. At the age of seven, she began competing in races and later made it to international competitions. She competed at World Junior Championships and World Cup events. In 2004, she was named World Cup Champion. Vonn went on to win the overall World Cup title in 2008 and again in 2010.
Michelle Kwan
Michelle Kwan's interest in figure skating began at a young age. At the age of five, she followed her older sister on the ice and fell in love with it. Danny and Estella Kwan are immigrants from Hong Kong or China. Estella's parents were born in Hong Kong. The Kwans met at a reunion of school. Her father worked for the telephone company and her mother ran the Golden Pheasant restaurant in Torrance, California. Michelle started serious training when she turned eighteen. She would work for three to four hours a day. However, her time commitment was so significant that her family had to struggle to pay.
Kwan was coached by Rafael Arutyunyan (respected technician) in the fall of 2003. The pair skated to "The Feeling Begins", the short program, and "Tosca", the long program. Kwan tied Maribel Vison-Owen’s record with nine titles for U.S. female figure skating. Kwan qualified for Turin's Olympic Games the following year. However, at the World Championships, Kwan fell on a triple salchow and two-footed a triple lutz.
Cari Champion
Cari Champ, a prominent broadcast journalist is well-known in the world of sports. She anchors ESPN's noon edition and hosts the Be Honest With Cari Champion podcast. Her extensive knowledge of sports comes from her experience working in broadcast journalism at several networks. In fact, she will speak on the 2019 program track, Pushing the Limits of Human Performance.
Cari Champion is a Pasadena native who attended UCLA. She has one older sister and two younger brothers. She has not been married yet and is not currently in a public relationship.
Li Na
Li Na is a famous Chinese tennis player. She rose from humble origins as the daughter of an athlete whose dreams were derailed by political strife. Now she is one the best tennis players in the country and one of their most wealthy women. Her Chinese compatriots were not able to see her play until her rise in fame.
She is known for her self-confidence, and her ability to inspire young Chinese. Her contributions are not limited to sports. Li Na, a cultural entrepreneur and influential figure in China, is also influencing Chinese society.
