Carla Esparza doesn't have a perfect record. She lost to Jessica Andrade. Claudia Gadelha. Randa Markos. She also had close calls with Jessica Andrade, Weili Zhou, and Marina Rodriguez. This could be a red flag, considering her five-fight winning streak.
She was unable to defend her title at Invicta FFC 6: Cyborg against Coenen II (2013).
Cyborg is a determined, aggressive fighter like Coenen. Despite an opening round that featured leg kicks from both fighters, Coenen was unable to stop Cyborg's relentless assault. Cyborg took down Coenen and landed a number of punches in the second round. While Coenen was attempting to escape, the "Cyborg" was able to land a few power punches to finish the round.
Cyborg will defend her featherweight title, against Coenen. The Strikeforce featherweight champion was crowned the winner of their first fight by TKO. Coenen has a record of two victories in his last fights. The winner will take on either Ayako or Carla Hamasaki.

Despite suffering nerve damage in 2007, Carla Esparza has been able to return to action in recent years. Rose Namajunas defeated her to win the UFC strawweight title in May. She is expected in November to defend her title, against Zhang Weili (former champ). Recently, she shared an update via social media on her fight camp.
Esparza was hospitalized after the accident. Her hospital bill was $30,000 but she agreed to fight. InvictaFC 7 was her next fight. She defeated Maya Hamasaki again. Claudia Gadelha fought her again, but Gadelha was ill with stomach cancer.

Esparza was 3-3 in 29 previous fights for the title, but her victory against Virna Jandiroba April 2019 set the scene for a five-fight win streak. In a COVID-quiet UFC APEX Las Vegas event, she beat Yan Xiaonan. She finished in less than eight minutes. In June 2019, she won her title by knockout.
