Moore's WNBA career is now on hiatus
Maya Moore has made it clear that she will be leaving the WNBA court for this season. Last played for Minnesota Lynx in 2018, at the age of 25. She stated in February that she would take some time off to fulfill her ministry goals and focus on her family. During this time, Moore has also been working to free Jonathan Irons from prison for the crimes he committed at the age of 16.
Jonathan Irons Moore's spouse was convicted for a burglary, shooting and other charges in 2007.
Moore met Irons in Missouri while she was visiting her godparents. She also met Irons' great-uncle who introduced them all to the rest. When Irons was 16 years old, he was convicted of a burglary and shooting at the home of a white man. Stanley Stotler, the homeowner, identified Irons as the perpetrator. The jury found him guilty and sentenced him for the crime to prison.
Moore proposed and Irons was born the night he got free.
Moore proposed to Irons on the night a judge overturned his conviction for aggravated assault. Irons' conviction was overturned after the judge cited issues in the investigation. The couple have been engaged and are planning to start a foundation in support of wrongfully convicted. Moore will be returning to basketball this spring.

Maya Moore has just revealed the birth of her first child with husband Jonathan Irons. The baby boy was delivered in February 2022. After Jonathan was released, the couple wed in 2020. It is unclear if the couple are still together. Jonathan and Maya had a close friendship in prison.
